Throughout history the Church has recognized that the dominating false world religion and government prophesied of in Revelation Chapter 17 for these last days would come forth from the old Babylonian and Roman Empires. This political/religious partnership, described in greater detail in Revelation Chapter 13, will reach its zenith during the establishment of a seven year covenant with Israel.
“And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifices and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.” Daniel 9:27.
Current events overwhelmingly support that the present-day European Union, which originated in Rome, Italy, with the signing of the Treaty of Rome, is indeed the prophesied restored Roman Empire, which will bring forth the last day’s world dictator.
“Little children, it is the last time: and as you have heard that an’-ti-christ shall come, even now are there many an’-ti-christs; whereby we know that it is the last time.” John 2:18.
The Roman Catholic Church is a major forerunner of this end-time Babylonian harlot religion, which will unite in full power with the European Union in its final push for world dominion. Her purpose at present remains the same as when she assumed the authority and power of the decaying historic Roman Empire within her courts. That is, to unite apostate Christianity and pagan religions together for allegiance to the restored Roman Empire, through the common roots found in the ancient Babylonian mystery religion. She is a bishop on the last day’s chessboard, but remains a disposable piece all the same.
The great city of the harlot will be destroyed sometime at the end of the first three and one half years of the Tribulation.
“And he sayeth unto me, The water which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. For God has put in their heart to fulfill His will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. And the woman that thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.” Revelation 17:15-18
The anti-Christ and his followers do not hate religion as a whole since it is essential to their final demand for worship. They just hate having to carry this particular religion which will have served its limited purpose.
The final form of Satan’s religion, which will rise to prominence after this point will be the deadliest of all and will be the system which demands that the world worship the anti-Christ through the authority of the second beast known as the false prophet.
“And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he excerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; which had a wound by the sword, and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.” Revelation 13:11-15.
In order to effectively consider leading candidates for the religious system that exists in the world today which could more specifically fulfill the role of the last day’s religion of the anti-Christ, the Church can only pray for discernment. The belief system which will overshadow the false religions of the earth during the closing hours of this age will display a perverted form of Christianity and will have at its core the belief that it is the worship system which will produce its own messiah in replacement of Jesus Christ.
Its belief system roots must go back to ancient times of spiritualism and mysticism. At present the primary candidate seen with these credentials is the Celtic Apostolic Church (The Emergent Church)1, which first appeared in Great Britain around 500 AD and is growing in power and prestige at a phenomenal rate. It should be noted, the ancient pagan British Celtic Apostolic Church believed they were the true Jews (British Israelism.) The roots of Druidic paganism are deeply entrenched in the Celtic Church, which can be verified by the fact that St Columba’s own motto proclaimed “Christ is my Druid.”
St. Columba was held in high regard by leading false prophet of ‘The Latter Rain Movement` William Branham. On his pyramid-shaped tombstone in Jeffersonville, Indiana are inscribed the names of the seven churches of Revelation and seven men. If the two faces of the pyramid juxtaposed one over the other, the fourth church and man listed is Thyatirean – Columba.
Dr Rowan Williams, the man expected to be the new Archbishop of Canterbury, England, who will lead the 70- million-strong Anglican Church around the world is involved in Druidic paganism. In an early morning ceremony Dr Williams was inducted as an honorary white druid. The ceremony took place “in the face of the sun, in the eye of light” while druids chanted “a prayer to the ancient god and goddess of the land”2 at the start of the Welsh National Eisteddfod at St David’s, Pembrokeshire, Wales on August 5, 2002.
At this time, 2002, the spiritual figurehead of this pagan religion is HRH Prince Michael of Albany, Head of the Royal House of Stuart who “claims” that on November 4, 1985, under International Law the president of the International Parliament (Mediterranean Security) endorsed by the United Nations, ratified his legal right as Head of the Celtic Church of the Kindred of Saint Columba. Prince Michael also boldly “claims” that his titles were verified as legitimate titular claimant to the Throne of Scots and legal Pretender to the Throne of Great Britain.3
Additional recognized titles “claimed” by this prince are Knight Grand Officer of the Supreme Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem (S.M.O.T.J.) which is a modern-day order of the Knight Templars, Knight Grand Commander of the Chivalric Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem,4 and Prince of Jerusalem.5
Daniel 9:26 may be significant to ponder in light of Prince Michael’s belief that the Royal House of Stuart known to this day as the Royal House of Unicorns [is this why the word unicorn has been inserted in the KJV over the Hebrew knowledge of wild ox?] are descendants of the Jewish kings of Judah 6 (the anti-Semitic belief known as British Israelism – Gt. Britain is Israel – the English throne is the earthly throne of King David), and the specific title of Prince of Jerusalem from the House of Stuart, when considering the anti-Christ’s role as “the prince that shall come.” Of additional interest is that Michael “claims” to be Grand Protector of the Order of the Dragon for Great Britain and the English speaking world7 and President of the European Council of Princes.8
It is interesting to note that the mythical unicorn is Scotland’s National Animal, Scotland’s deep connections with the unicorn stem from its Celtic culture. Celtic mythology believed unicorns to represent innocence and purity whilst also being associated with chivalry, pride and boldness. The first recorded use of a unicorn symbol is in the twelfth century when it was adopted by William I on the Scottish Royal Coat of Arms.
Prince Michael also “claims” to be the 57th Archpriest and Temporal Head of Scotland’s ancient Druidic-Christian Church of the Culdees and that Polish born Pope John Paul II acknowledged his right to the Polish Crown (Michael “claims” to hold the title of Prince of Poland). Michael further “claims” that Pope John Paul 11 invoked God’s abundant blessings upon him as leader of the Celtic Church and Knights Templar.9
It is a notable fact that William 1 who reigned over Scotland from 1165 to 1214 adopted the Lion Rampant under the law of heraldry. And to this day the Lion Rampant is the second unofficial flag of Scotland. This “animal” has the body like that of a leopard, feet of a bear, and mouth of a lion. See Rev. 13:2
We do not believe this “prince” is the anti-Christ. However, the titles he “claims” are interesting, to say the least.
If the Celtic pagan religion is the belief system of these last days, which will amalgamate apostate Christianity under the anti-Christ then patterns and evidence of footholds within so-called Christian enclaves should be evident. Those who have discernment will find names of persons, religious rites and symbolic representations directly associated with the Celtic Apostolic Church have been introduced into an extensive number of Christian assemblies.
One such name that is being put forth is Smith Wigglesworth , who is held in high esteem by many in Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches. At Family Worship Center, Jimmy Swaggart has dedicated one of his buildings to Wigglesworth. It is also of interest to note that Oral Roberts University [Oral Roberts was a 33 degree freemason] graduate Gabriel Swaggart, grandson of Jimmy and Frances Swaggart, is featured on the front cover of the Evangelist wearing a large pagan Celtic cross necklace.10
The Celtic cross is among the most cherished Celtic symbols in Ireland. They are another emblem of the ancient premise “As above, so below.” The ring at the center is what makes Celtic crosses so unique. In the ancient pagan Celtic world, the circle/wheel represented many sacred things…balance and harmony between the male and female, the sun, the life cycle, wholeness, the cycle of the seasons, energy of the female force, and the eternal connection of all things in heaven and on earth.
In 1947, Smith Wigglesworth gave the following “end time “rare” prophecy.”
“During the next decade there will be two distinct moves of the Holy Spirit across the Church in Great Britain. The first move will affect every church that is open to receive it and will be characterized by a restoration of the baptism and gifts of the Holy Spirit.
The second move of the Holy Spirit will result in people leaving historic churches and planting new churches.
…there will be the biggest movement of the Holy Spirit that the nation, and indeed the world, has ever seen. It will mark the beginning of a revival that will eclipse anything that has been witnessed within these shores, even the Wesleyan and Welsh revivals of former years. The outpouring of God’s Spirit will flow from the UK to the mainland of Europe, and from there will begin a missionary move to the ends of the earth.”11
In opposition to Smith Wigglesworth’s “rare prophecy” of a great revival, the Scriptures reveal that in these last days there will be a great falling away with men holding to a form of godliness while denying the power of Christ’s blood shed at Calvary.
“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and the man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.” II Thessalonians 2:3.
“Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” II Timothy 3:5.
In fact, at this late date the only “great revival” that has come forth from the shores of the United Kingdom which is reaching Europe and the rest of the world is a revival of Celtic spirituality.
Many prominent writers and charismatic church leaders are urging the people of Europe to return to their Celtic roots in order to foster reconciliation between the Celtic peoples. In his book published in London, author Martin Robinson, Director of Mission and Theology for the British and Foreign Bible Society, pointed out the importance attached to Europeans recognizing that the growing reunification of Europe is not only connected with Celtic history but also with their beliefs.
“Recent events in the history of Europe have forced us to reconsider what we mean by the term ‘Europe.’ In the period between the end of the Second World War and the fall of the Berlin Wall ‘Europe’ often meant the very different Europes of the West and East. The growing reunification of Europe allows us to look again at what a common European culture, history, heritage, and home might mean. Europe can once more be seen as a culture which has interacted in particular ways with other cultures and continents in the world. The shift in focus from two Europes – one broadly liberal and democratic, the other communist and totalitarian – to a single Europe which sees itself as a part of a broader Western culture, but distinct in particular ways from North America, allows a reconsideration of the elements that caused a common European story to emerge from the multiplicity of stories owned by the various tribes of Europe.
In this context, the contribution of the Celts is now better understood. They are no longer seen as simply forms of the faith that existed in Celtic lands, but which were then overtaken. Their active role in shaping larger parts of Europe is now recognized. In a purely historical sense their role and reputation are rightly restored. But the present interest in the Celts seeks to go beyond a merely historical restitution. Their contribution to the shaping of our past is just as challenging as restoring their place in history.”12
George G. Hunter III, Dean of the E. Stanley Jones School of World Mission and Evangelism, and Professor of Evangelism and Church Growth at Asbury Theological Seminary in Kentucky, affirmed the absorption of all things Celtic by people, while expressing an astute observation that it is not readily apparent that people are recognizing the Celtic source of their attachments and inspirations.
“…we can see enough parallels between the Celtic era and ours to understand the growing interest in Celtic Christianity. A renaissance in Celtic music, Celtic art, Celtic dance, Celtic love of nature, and Celtic spirituality is already underway. Sometimes, though it is difficult to discern whether people are consciously plugging into Celtic Christianity or simply latching onto some of its themes without regard to their probable Celtic source.
For example, eighteenth-century Methodism grew remarkably among England’s working poor people, who did not fit into the refined Church of England culture, whom Establishment Christianity largely ignored. John Wesley went to great lengths, through observation, interviews, and correspondence, to understand England’s unchurched populations. Methodism, like Celtic Christianity before it took root and became contagious almost everywhere in the open air. Wesley’s movement practiced the ministry of hospitality and welcomed seekers into the fellowship of Methodist class meetings, and even Methodist societies, before they believed or had experienced anything. Most of them “caught” the faith from the fellowship…
Methodism formed its people in ways reminiscent of the Celtic five-fold approach. Methodism engaged people’s imaginations through Charles Wesley’s poetry and the folk arts of the people. Early Methodism adopted the people’s kind of music, and many sang their way to faith. Like the movement spawned by [Celtic St] Patrick, Wesley’s movement believed it had recovered the original apostolic mission to pre-Christian population…

The second half of the twentieth century experienced a widespread renewal of many features of Celtic Christianity. Ian Bradley observes that some of the most influential Christian writers of the twentieth century, like John Ballie, Pierre Tielhard de Chardin, and Thomas Merton were drawing from a distinctively Celtic theological vision…
Some Christian movements today, such as Revelation Church in the south of England, are consciously informed by a Celtic vision…Revelation churches involve their people in soul friendship, small groups, lay ministries, the ministry of witnessing, and in cross cultural mission…Revelation Church is discovering ways to communicate through visual symbols and creative arts.
The Jesus Movement in Australia is also consciously Celtic in its roots and vision. The movement began around 1970, under the leadership of John Smith, as an outbreak of indigenous evangelistic and prophetic activity in Irish pubs, coffee shops, art communities, folk music communities, hippie communities, and in debates on race and justice on college campuses. The movement evolved into an apostolic order in cooperation with several Australian denominations. The Australian Jesus Movement targeted people in (and beyond) the fringes of establishment society…Smith would organize an itinerant team of a dozen to thirty or more people to engage a community for days. Team members let their hair grow long, traveled on motorcycles, and when appropriate, wore hippie shirts…Many team members were etched with Celtic Christian tattoos, which Smith recalls, “stimulated questions everywhere!”…
Some Christian movements, such as the Alpha course from Holy Trinity Church in the Brompton section of London, may be unconsciously informed by a Celtic Christianity. The Alpha course served for over a decade, as Holy Trinity’s introduction to Christianity for seekers who want to “sniff around,” “kick the tires,” check out Christianity, and try it on for size. In the early 1990’s, the church’s leaders introduced other church leaders to the course and its growth has been remarkable – from 5 registered courses in 1992, to 10,000 in 1998 – in 72 countries.
Finally, not many churches are yet following Christ to reach the receptive New Barbarians who are all around them! Nevertheless, the Celtic Christian movement that won the West for a second time has shown us many ways for reaching the West for a third time.”13
Leaders within the apostate church refer to “reaching the West for a third time” using the ancient pagan British Apostolic Celtic Church’s missionary
model as the “third wave.” The “first wave” the evangelization by this early church with its Eastern-influenced spirituality, led by [Celtic Saints] Patrick and Columba. The “second wave” began in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries with Jonathan Edwards, John Wesley and George Whitefield being the principle figures of this movement which became known as the Great Awakening in the American colonies and the Evangelic Revival in the British Isles. The “third wave” of Celtic spirituality gained further prominence around the world in 1906 with the Azusa Street Revival. British Israel believer Charles Fox Parham, Father of Pentecostalism played a central role. Then starting in the 60’s Celtic spirituality gained further influence around the world with the emergence of the Jesus Movement, the New Age Movement (repackaged Celtic spirituality) , the Hebraic Roots Movement and the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR.) There is little doubt that these movements will usher in the anti-Christ, the one world religion and the Noahide Laws. It is also possible the NAR will spearhead a second apostate counter-culture Jesus Movement in the future.
Most, if not all, of today’s front-line missionary organizations use the counter-culture/social/political/religious model of the ancient Celtic Church as a tool to “evangelize” the world. The Kaleidoscopic Global Action Plan, formally commissioned by the GCOWE (Global Consultation on World Evangelization) 2000 conveners in September, 1988, is a blue print for the spiritual, social, and political agenda designed to usher in the one world religion. This is evident when reading:
“Offer the hand of friendship, respect, cooperation, love, compassion, understanding, and dialogue to our fellow human beings and fellow religionists in the great world religions of Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Sikhism, Baha’i, Shinto, and numerous others…While differing in our beliefs about God and Jesus, we can all nevertheless struggle together against the monstrous evils that plague our planet, threaten its survival, and so render world evangelization futile.”

It may be significant to note that the introduction to Frank Bartleman’s book Azuza Street, Bridge Logos Foundation, 1980, which calls for an ecumenical unity of all believers, was written by KGAP working member, H. Vinson Synan.
Not all are blind to the Celtic influence being introduced into the churches but in fact are advocates of its allure. In an article from a popular ecumenical magazine it was reported that:
“Throughout England, charismatic leaders are adopting the ancient Celts as a new ministry model for the 21st century. Roger Forster, pastor of the Ichus Church in London and a leader of the March for Jesus movement, refers to Patrick and other Celtic saints as examples of “radical” Christianity.
Excluding its ancient evangelical nature, Celtic Christianity cuts denominational, nationalistic, and physical boundaries in presenting the gospel. Catholics and Protestants, traditionalists, and charismatics all are inspired by the saints…”
Andy and Jane Fitz-Gibbon lead a renewal community based in New York. They share their own insights in their book Prophetic Lifestyle and the Celtic Way…
“A ‘new Dark Ages’ presents us with a greater challenge than faced by the church since the collapse of the Roman Empire,” they write. “We can no longer assume even a passing awareness of Christian tradition and culture.
The church’s evangelistic task is aimed at a new paganism, they point out. And in some ways, they note, the church has been here before…
The division that stirs misunderstanding about the Celtic movement seems to occur naturally along spiritual lines. In the church, inquirers will find a Christ-centered, charismatic, Celtic-style spirituality. In secular society, inquirers will discover a myth-and-magic movement with a few saints thrown in for good measure.
Indeed, the Celtic movement in the wider world beyond the church is a strong one, offering a bizarre mix of pagan and pro-Christian mythology. British newspaper The Telegraph reported last spring that Celtic culture has been gaining ground in postmodern Britain…
Despite the flurry, the evangelistic and meditative cry of the Celts may well continue into the 21st century, like an echo from the past. Some Christians say we ignore it at our peril if we mean to take the gospel successfully into societies that have increasingly withdrawn from the church to seek their spirituality elsewhere…
For evangelist Steve Hill of Brownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola, Florida, the heart cry of the Celts was heard while he rode on a ferry across the English Channel…Hill later received prayer at London’s Holy Trinity Brompton Church…and he went on to play a key role in what has become known as the Father’s Day Outpouring at Brownsville Assembly in 1995.
The cry of the heart that the Celts sounded…is being heard again, and it is the same call today as it was at its birthplace on the misty green hills and rocky coasts of ancient Celtic lands. It is still the sound of revival.”15
An example of the “outpouring” from Brownsville Assembly was reported in the June 19, 2000, edition of the Pensacola News Journal Today. The article revealed that at Sunday’s Brownsville Assembly of God service “thunderous wailing, shrieking, and howling surged. To a beating drum waves of pandemonium swept the church. For almost 20 minutes, people raced through isles, danced, laughed uncontrollably, jumped, jerked and collapsed…[John Kilpatrick, pastor of the assembly stated] “Now, that’s how it should be.””
The Word of God clearly warns of these demonic manifestations that are taking place in churches across America and around the world.
“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;” I Timothy 4:1.
Another fearful example of the “outpouring” was reported to have taken place in 1997, during an ecumenical gathering in Cork, Ireland. At this meeting, lead by four renewed church group leaders, Peter Anderson (Anglican), Tom Hoban (Good News Fellowship), John Keating (Christian Centre), and Doug Heffernan (Celtic Prayer Centre), spirits were invoked and those in attendance were encouraged to return to their Celtic roots.
“On the Saturday a leaders lunch was held in the Celtic Prayer Centre, which saw the coming together of Anglicans, Methodists, Presbyterians and the independent Christian groups. Wes [Campbell] again ministered and encouraged those gathered to be open and expectant of the REVIVAL that the current RENEWAL was leading towards…
On Sunday morning we were entertained by John Scotland. John is one of the most unusually anointed people, in his case, he has continuous symptoms of being drunk in the Spirit. He is amazing to watch! He had everyone take another drink and enjoy the presence of the Spirit.
The climax was on Sunday night when Wes came running out into the hall in full Braveheart [Sir William Wallace] regalia. Roaring to the sound of the celtic music he talked about standing for Jesus and possessing our land and FREEDOM. It was fantastic and many were really challenged to lay hold of our WARRIOR FAITH and declare war on the enemy.”16
Sadly, many are deceived into believing that these bizarre actions are the result of being filled with the Holy Spirit, but Scripture refutes this contention and instead exposes such behavior as being demented or demonic. These same demonstrations of spirit possession are readily identifiable in many pagan religions including voodoo.
Such demonic manifestations were also evident at “revivals” in Europe and America during the 17th and 18th centuries. Among those influencing these meetings were George Whitefield, Francis Asbury, Charles Finney, Count Nicholas Zinzendorf, Jonathan Edwards, and John Wesley.
“Of particular importance to Wesley was the outpouring of the Spirit in Everton [England] during the summer of 1759…what he found made a profound impression on him, to the extent that he made occasional references to it in his Journal throughout the rest of his life. In one of his first references to it (July 29, 1759), he quotes a very long account of the work of God in Everton, probably by John Walsh who wrote:
“…The Lord was wonderfully present, more than twenty persons feeling the arrows of conviction. Several fell to the ground, some of whom seemed dead, others in the agonies of death, the violence of their bodily convulsions exceeding all description. There were also great crying and agonizing in prayer, mixed with deep and deadly groans on every side…
A child seven years old, sees many visions and astonishes the neighbors with her innocent, awful manner of declaring them.””17
Roger Ellis and Chris Seaton, leaders of Revelation Church in England, acknowledged the Celtic origins of these “signs and wonders” when they wrote:
“there was in Celtic Christianity much that charismatics and pentecostals would recognize today. Increasingly, historians are beginning to acknowledge that the growing body of evidence for miracles occurring today must influence their view of the Celts’ accounts of miracles….
Just so, there is something about the flowing together of spiritual streams of anointing that works toward strengthening and deepening of a move of God in a nation. We can apply this principle to contemporary “wells” with which we are familiar. The streams of revival from the wells in Toronto, Canada, Pensacola, Florida and Argentina in South America have flowed into our nation across denominational boundaries in recent years. Likewise, there have been tools like Alpha, Cities of God, and March for Jesus that have either stimulated or been enhanced by local church unity.”18
The anti-Christ will operate in the greatest magnitude of what the deceived will believe are the true signs and wonders and gifts of the Spirit.
“Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,” II Thessalonians 2:9.
The one true God, the living Lord Jesus Christ, did ordain individual leaders for His Church.
“And he gave some, apostles; some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:” Ephesians 4:11-12.
Today, many are caught in the deception of the Celtic Church’s “five-fold-ministry” approach, which replaced Jesus Christ with their own false apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, who then serve as the people’s lords. These false teachers “…appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.” Matthew 23:27-28.
To the body of Christ who have been deceived into following and supporting these false prophets the Word of God declares:
“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Ba-li-al? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God: as God hath said I will dwell in them, and walk in them: and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord.” II Corinthians 6:14-18.
In closing, there seems to be no other religion on earth, which can serve the purpose of Satan so fully in these last days than the one spawned from pagan Celtic beliefs. In the 2002, message Apostasy Called Revival – The Rise of Celtic Spirituality it was stated:
“If the Celtic pagan religion is the belief system of these last days, which will amalgamate apostate Christianity under the anti-Christ, then patterns and evidence of footholds within so-called Christian enclaves should be evident.”
At this late hour there is further evidence that the ancient Celtic pagan religion, with its roots in British Israelism, eastern mysticism and paganism, is the belief system that will amalgamate apostate Christianity under the anti-Christ.
The Supreme Court of Israel
Built in 1992 the new Supreme Court of Israel, with its numerous masonic symbols has at the center of the parking lot pathways shaped like a pagan Celtic cross. It is important to note that this building was not funded or designed by the Jewish people but by the Rothchild Foundation, and then only after they were allowed to use their own architect and choose the location. The Israel Supreme Court sits in Jerusalem.
In 1976, Thanks-Giving Square, founded by Peter Stewart, opened in Dallas,Texas. The square includes a “Chapel of Thanks-Giving” (resembling theTower of Babel,) with a “Glory Window” in the shape of a Celtic spiral. This is symbolic of the agenda to unite religions under the umbrella of the anti-Christ and the one world religion. Which is evident when reading their mission statement.

In the United Kingdom many apostate church leaders openly admit to the fact that they are following the teachings of the ancient Celtic Church. One of the more prominent leaders, Roger Ellis, head of Revelation Church, located in South London, and co-author of New Celts – Following Jesus into Millennium 3, was the main speaker at the ‘After the Rain Pioneer Conference’ held in the United Kingdom, in March, 1996. At this gathering, Ellis encouraged the conference leaders to engage in a national spiritual revival, based on the re-discovery of Celtic spirituality. Ellis also encouraged the use of Celtic symbolism.
“Within the midst of this society, God is saying to the church that we’re going to have to learn a new language. It’s a language of symbols…I love the Celtic statements of faith that were often drawn, that were contained within their crosses and within their symbols. Drawings were used for kind of doctrinal statements. That would be great wouldn’t it, if you went to speak at C.U. [Christian University] and instead of “let’s see your doctrinal statement,” they sent you a nice Celtic symbolism thing, wouldn’t it for a change? That’d bless me to no end.”
The main symbolic representations being introduced into Christian assemblies are Celtic crosses and Celtic spirals.
For those unfamiliar with the meaning of these ancient pagan symbols:
“The Celtic cross is among the most cherished Celtic symbols inIreland… They are another emblem of the ancient premise “As above, so below.” The ring at the center is what makes Celtic crosses so unique. In the ancient pagan Celtic world, the circle/wheel represented many sacred things…balance and harmony between the male and female, the sun, the life cycle, wholeness, the cycle of the seasons, energy of the female force, and the eternal connection of all things in heaven and on earth.”
“The Celtic spiral design represents the natural form of growth. In most cultures, past and present, it is a symbol of eternal life. The whorls represent the continuous creation and dissolution of the universe; the passage between the spirals symbolize the divisions between life, death and rebirth. A Celtic spiral that moves to the right symbolizes the sun and victory. Celtic spirals also represent the dance of war for the Scottish Highlands. The interlacing of continuous lines and spirals symbolizes the connection between the physical and spiritual worlds. The never ending characteristic of spirals and loops symbolizes a never ending cycle of life, death and rebirth.
Many Celtic images can be found at “Christian” websites including Rick Warren’s Crave media web page. One of which, the Bold As Love graphic, is very similar in appearance to the Celtic graphic depicted on the front cover of Jimmy Swaggart’s Crossfire edition of The Expositor’s Study Bible. The only major difference is the Crossfire image depicts Celtic wings (Celtic symbol of freedom).
One of the first public displays of Celtic symbolism at Jimmy Swaggart Ministries appeared on the front cover of the December 2000, edition of The Evangelist, when his grandson Gabriel Swaggart, was featured wearing a large pagan Celtic cross necklace. Since that time numerous Celtic symbols including, the outline of the Celtic cross (Crossfire’s logo), Celtic spirals, and Celtic wings, have appeared on JSM’s web pages and materials. The most blatant display of symbols are depicted on images posted on Crossfire Youth Ministries web pages,and Crossfire ministries tee shirts (see photos on Crossfire’s Facebook page.)
Since this message was distributed in 2002 Crossfire Youth Ministry have removed many of the above mentioned symbols.
The most shocking graphic posted at JSM web site depicts the rampant lion, which has a face of a lion with a body more like a leopard and feet similar to a bear (“And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.” Rev. 13:2.) celtic spirals, a wing (symbolic of Celtic freedom), and at the bottom of this graphic is the top of an upside down cross. Wild Goose Festival
Another prominent leader of the “Emergent Church Movement,” Brian McLaren, who along with Rick Warren wrote the foreword to Dan Kimball’s book The Emerging Church: Vintage Christianity for New Generations, (Kimball believes, “we can learn from the Celtic approach”), is now like his British counterparts, openly promoting Celtic spirituality which can be verified by reading:

The Kaleidoscopic Global Action Plan
Most, if not all, of today’s front-line “Christian” organizations use the counter-culture/social/political/religious model of the ancient Celtic Church as a tool to “evangelize” the world. The Kaleidoscopic Global Action Plan, formally commissioned by the GCOWE (Global Consultation on World Evangelization) 2000 conveners in September, 1988, is the blue print for the one world religion. We quote:
“Offer the hand of friendship, respect, cooperation, love, compassion, understanding, and dialogue to our fellow human beings and fellow religionists in the great world religions of Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Sikhism, Baha’i, Shinto, and numerous others…While differing in our beliefs about God and Jesus, we can all nevertheless struggle together against the monstrous evils that plague our planet, threaten its survival, and so render world evangelization futile.” (Kaleidoscopic Global Action Plan, A. 3, Responsibility.)
One of the many plans listed in this lengthy document is to place young people in global leadership positions in-order to take over the churches. Roger Ellis admitted he was following this agenda during an interview with Noel Stanton, senior pastor of the Jesus Fellowship,UK.
When referring to these youth leaders, some as young as 18, Roger Ellis stated:
“Some are real visionaries, who are getting discipled, released and moving on” and “I am concerned about some smaller charismatic churches. Either leaders of churches have to step out of the way and let younger people take it over or they need to diverify their ministry to create room for this lot to come on. If they can’t do that, they disempower them and they become frustrated, and lose the pioneering edge. Youth With a Mission (YWAM) founded in 1960, by Loren Cunningham has a ‘Celtic Way Community’ located in Paisley, Scotland where attendees are encouraged to “live lives of simplicity much like the Celtic Monks.”

“The Reawakening of the Celtic Stream of Christianity
It is also a kairos season of God; a moment in history whose time has come. God is refining his Bride. Prophets are increasingly speaking of shakings and realignments. We are being called to a greater holiness and more accountability before Him in this. The time of the maid servants and the oil lamps, the Lord saying to “go away I never knew you” is approaching. (Matthew 25:1-13)
In the midst of all this, God has been stirring up something he planned long ago. Here in the wild backwater fringes of the British Isles during Dark Age Europe (5th-10thcentury) God birthed something that is again relevant in our day – the Celtic stream of Christianity. In his book, Exploring Celtic Christianity, Ray Simpson explains the significance of this stream. He writes particularly of the application to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne in northeast England. However, I believe his words also resonate for all the Celtic stream of Christianity, and its significance in God’s plans for the world.
He writes, “…there is [a] cradle that is rooted deeper in the soil, deeper in the soil of the people, deeper in the supernatural, a cradle required by the kairos of our time. This cradle, which has been lost sight of, is to be rediscovered; from it there will be a birthing of a New Way in the Church, which has a significance far beyond anything that one person can comprehend”.”

“It has been 1700 years since Europe has been where it is today. Christendom, the ‘covering’ of Christian belief, morality and social structure is all but gone. Once again, the people of Europe, and indeed the West, are increasingly people with no Christian memory, who have no idea what we Christians are talking about. Without a clear source or foundation, they are increasingly receptive – and actively exploring – various worldview options to make sense of their lives. Theirs is an increasingly spiritual search. In the face of this massive shifting of culture, the Western Church has generally been in denial. Those churches not in denial have struggled to engage with the large number of “neo-barbarians” outside their doors. As one writer puts it, the mainline Western Churches generally don’t have ‘the precedent or the ‘paradigm’ for engaging the West’s emerging mission fields. However, there is one stream that seems to have a model that can be drawn upon, showing us ways forward in the 21st Century. The Celtic stream of Christianity.
Transitions and history
It can be said that transitions between the epochs are messy things by nature. Old wine skins no longer work and need to go, but the new wine skins are only just in the process of becoming ready. Further compounding things, there are some elements of the old that really do need to be continued….but which ones? It is all very unsettling and confusing. It’s where we are at in 2020. And it was where most of Europe was when the western Roman Empire collapsed: a Europe that was on the eve of the flowering of Celtic Christianity.
History is not linear: a smooth straight line ever advancing and improving. That worldview is a construct of the Modern Age with its foundation of reason, the empirical and linear progress. Instead, history is a series of forward-moving circles. That we are, in fact, moving forward is clear from God’s Word. That we often circle back to repent, relearn, and recalibrate is also biblical. This is where discernment with Holy Spirit is key in assessing the old wine skins as well as what the new wine skins are to be.
What Celtic Christianity brings to the table
Celtic Christianity is a very old wine skin, but one I believe was cut off before its time. I also believe the Lord is bringing it around again because we in the West are once more primarily a spiritual but non-Christian people. So many elements of Celtic Christianity have resonance for Western society today. So much of what is left of the Christendom model, does not.
In an effort to find purpose and to live life with some semblance of joy and peace (materialism and science/technology not having brought that), so many Westerners are exploring all and sundry in terms of spiritual and religious ideas and pathways. Tellingly the Church is often the last place they look. At the same time, Celtic Christianity has connecting points for peoples of other religious persuasions, allowing them to encounter the Living God and grasp His good news, the Gospel.
Kairos versus Chronos
Understanding that no one path is perfect, the Celtic Christian stream that arose during “Dark Age” Europe (5th – 10th centuries) has many key connecting points in this epoch of time. In fact, it is a kairos time for us, particularly in the West. A list of many of the chapter titles from Ray Simpson’s book Exploring Celtic Spirituality is a succinct way of capturing the key elements of Celtic Christianity that have massive implications. The Cross in Creation. A World of Sacrament. The Encircling Three. The Wild Goose (Celtic Christian name for the Holy Spirit). Signs and Wonders. The Prophetic Spirit. Healing. In an undated article titled, YWAM Portland, Oregon, Visits our Monastery, Celtic Monk Preston of the Prayer Foundation, revealed: “Once a month, YWAM Portland has a day of prayer, solitude and contemplation,” and YWAM missionaries who visited Preston’s Celtic monastery dressed in monks robes, were then instructed in the practices of the ancient Celts by Celtic monks.
Seth Barnes, founder of the young adult’s missionary group AIM, promotes Celtic spirituality. On his blog Radical Living in a Comfortable World, Spiritual direction: advice from a soul friend, Barnes shares a link to All Saints Parish, Celtic Spirituality website.
In September, 2010, Fuller Theological Seminary, taught an International Course in ‘Exploring the Celtic Heritage’: “The spirituality of the Celtic saints offers a creative missional model for the 21st century. This unique course will be based on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, off the coast of Northumberland, England, and will combine reflection on mission in today’s world with space for personal reflection & spiritual nurture.”
Fuller Theological Seminary is now offering Summer 2011 Immersion Courses, one of which includes a 10 day trip to Ireland, where students are encouraged to: “Join us as we wander amongst sacred sites dotting the Irish countryside studying the birthplace of Celtic monastic spirituality, which still today has a significant influence on our worship practices…Worship God through contemplative prayer and song in cloistered spaces and under the wide canopy of Irish sky. Examine the rich imagery and symbolism of Celtic crosses.”
The Brehm Center, working in tandem with Fuller Theological Seminary

It is rooted in the Christian tradition seeking to welcome all regardless of ethnicity, gender, sexuality, background or belief. In the Celtic Church the image of the Wild Goose has long been held as a symbol for the wild, unpredictable, and untamable nature of the Holy Spirit…”
Nazarene Theological Seminary in their spring, 2011, Course SPF 790 – Celtic Spirituality, introduces students to the “Christian traditions” of the ancient pagan Celtic Church. “The renewal of interest in and even fascination with all things Celtic in recent decades begs the question: What do so many find compelling about these peoples and their culture? Embedded within the more well-known expressions of Celtic art, music, dance, and story are references to lesser-known spiritual traditions, both pre-Christian and Christian. What characterizes Celtic spirituality and what is its relevance for Christian spirituality today? In this course, these and other questions will be explored from the perspective of the Christian Celtic tradition.”
London Olympics Opening Ceremony
Glastonbury Tor located in Glastonbury, Somerset, England was put on the map when it became the most prominent part of the Isles of Wonder set of the London Olympics opening ceremony. Unbeknown to the majority of international viewers Glastonbury is the most revered of Britain’s ancient sacred sites with a long association with the Celtic legend of King Arthur, and the underworld (the Celts believed Glastonbury is the entrance to the underworld.) The Tor has seven terraces and when viewed from above the terraces create a winding labyrinth path which is rumored to be used for occult rituals including Druid initiations and goddess worship.
Christianity Today ( CT) magazine published a blasphemous front page cover story ‘Saving Celtic Spirituality` by Loren Wilkinson April 24, 2020.
“…These Celtic spirituality books are generally beautiful, lavishly decorated with a colorful knotwork of intertwined beasts and plants. The contents are organized around the seasons or the Celtic Pagan holy days (Samhain, Beltane, and others). The spiritual content is generic and safe, usually preceded by some warnings about the difference between Celtic spirituality (which is inclusive, and hence good) and Christian religion (which is exclusive, and hence bad). The introduction from one of these books is typical: “This book is for people of lively, questing spirit who want to lay down a personal pattern of spiritual practice but who do not wish to practice this within a specific religious framework. The material within this book springs from the spiritual current of Celtic tradition.”Thus Celtic spirituality becomes one more dish on a spiritual smorgasbord, alongside various ancient and exotic traditions. We are used to such a spread in these late-modern times, whose inhabitants (like the Athenians of Paul’s day) are always hungry for the latest ideas.The current wave of Celtophilia might be of only marginal interest to the Christian—except that a substantial and rapidly growing Celtic Christian movement also exists within the evangelical Christian community. So the word Celtic occurs with increasing frequency in the books and music of Christian bookstores, as do the rhythms”….
Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa
A banner used to promote Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa (CCCM) senior pastor, Brian Brodersen’s Bible study on Revelation 9:13-21 depicting a pagan celtic triquetra symbol was sent out by Twitter on March 6, 2016. This symbol was then seen projected on the wall behind the pulpit at CCCM.
A triquetra is a triangle or three (tri) cornered quetrus. It is made up of three intersecting vesica pisces, a shape created by the intersection of two circles – sacred geometry.
The triquetra is considered one of the oldest pagan celtic symbols dating back to as early as 500 AD when it was used to symbolize the triple goddess/Divine feminine (maiden-mother-crone). The symbol is often used to represent the three fundamental elements – air, water, and earth or the infinite cycle of life. It is also known as a rune of protection.
Pilgrim Lutheran Church (ELCA)
“Ten years ago, Pilgim Lutheran Church (ELCA) in the Macalester – Groveland neighborhood of St Paul took a long hard look at itself and started dreaming. What would a new worship service look like, if the congregation could add one? Like so many other neighborhoods in the Twin Cities, Pilgrim has had its share of “de-churched” individuals who had some previous experience in the Christian faith but no current home in a church community. How might a new type of worship experience make a difference?
With their mission statement in mind, “to be a home for hungry minds and souls,” Pilgrim’s dream quickly moved to strategic planning. A worship renewal grant from the Calvin Institute for Christian Worship, supported by the Lilly Endowment, undergirded the congregation’s tactical decision to add a service that was both contemplative and global. The Irish roots of St. Paul and the Scottish, Irish, and Celtic identities of its nearby colleges led to an indigenous approach to style, and Pilgrim launched one of the Twin Cities’ first Celtic worship services.
March 2012 marks the 10th anniversary of Pilgrim’s Celtic contemplative communion services and an exciting milestone for the congregation. Offered the second Sunday evening of the month from September to May, this unique worship experience immediately filled a need in the community and became an effective and pivotal outreach for the congregation…
Pilgrim’s Celtic service is contemplative, without a sermon. Participants worship and receive God’s presence through prayers, poetry, litanies, scripture readings, music, and silence. When worshippers arrive, they are invited to light a candle and place it in a sand-filled Celtic cross.
